In the spring of 2017 myself along with my team from Kapiolani Community College travelled to Johnson space center in Galveston Texas to test a tool that we designed for use in a micro gravity environment. Our team designed a screw type anchor intended to anchor in the regolith of an asteroid. This design was selected for testing from a large pool of submissions. The tool was tested in the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory (NBL), a facility where astronaut training is conducted underwater to mimic a zero gravity environment seen in the images. This opportunity was made possible by NASA’s Micro-g NExt program.
